The Fellowship of the Unashamed

We attended a baptism last week, and on the program was a very interesting quote. It was from Torrey L. Korab, a BYU student, written for a class he attended in the fall of 1999. He said:

"I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The dye has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I will not look back, let up, slow down, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, positions, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I do not have to be right, first, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am lifted by prayer and labor with power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven."

I like that quote because I think he has expressed what we must all do if we want to be a true disciple of Christ. In order to keep our covenants, we have to leave behind the world and it's values. We have to stop judging ourselves by the world's measuring stick. We get to look forward to a bright future with total assurance of His promises. We can rely completely on His power and on His love. There is no difficulty that He can't guide us through and help us conquer. What a wonderful blessing to belong to the fellowship of those who have chosen to follow Christ, those who have dedicated everything they have and everything they are to Him!
